I recently came across this interesting blog of Ursula Barzey who traced her family tree from Montserrat back to Africa. She also discusses Irish connections in Montserrat and DNA tourism. She tells us that Montserrat was used as a penal colony in the late 1600’s and a large number of Irish were sent to the island. Some later became wealthy landowners. Read Ursula’s story here
