Open Day – Solihull Core Library

Our Open Day is on Saturday 26th October 2024 at Solihull Core Library, free to attend and will incorporate our research meeting

The full day runs from 10am to 4.00pm

The exhibition is available to view throughout October and November. Our committee and members will be there to guide you through on Saturday 26th October and Saturday 30th November. Come and learn more about the group and how we can help with your family research.

Timetable for Saturday 26th October:

10.00am open

11am Byron Room – 5 step beginners research workshop

11.15am onwards – research assistance with PC’s available in PC room

12.30pm – 5 step beginners workshop

2.00pm – Research meeting, can be attended in person or online

3.00pm – DNA presentation by Martin Hayden

4.00pm close

Research Assistance Room – The PC room will be available from 11.15am , with our research lead, Osbourne – where visitors can use the computers to do research on FamilySearch etc and also be guided further in terms of completing pedigree charts and family group sheets etc…

Workshop/Presentation/Meeting Room –  Byron Room. We have timetabled two 5 step beginners research process workshops during the day –  provisionally at 11am and 12.30pm.  This is subject to attendees being there to attend, so the actual start and finish times are flexible.  From 2pm there will also be our monthly research – zoom/face to face hybrid meeting.  During this there will be a virtual tour of the exhibition for those online, followed by a recently recorded presentation by Martyn Hayden on DNA, as applied in Genealogy/Family History Research.  Please express an interest if you want to attend – as part of an open day – access is free .
